Background Story
The clothing bank started as an attempt by teachers to help one large family who was struggling to have enough clothes for their six children. As we gathered clothes for that family, we got the idea that this might be helpful to other families as well. From that, CARE Nights were born. This was where a school would do a clothing drive and then put the clothes out one evening for families to come take. We kept the extra clothes in plastic tubs so we could access them if a need came up that was not at the time of a CARE Night. Then, in 2009, a local church, Fellowship Bible Church, offered us a space to use as an actual 'shop', where we could have clothes out all the time instead of in plastic tubs, and people could easily come find what they needed. Also in 2009, we began partnering with Kids Without Borders, a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting needs of children. The clothing bank has operated in it's current location since 2010.

What We Do
The Tukwila Children's Clothing Bank is committed to ensuring that all children have the clothing they need for whatever activities they are involved in (school clothes, athletic wear, warm coats, etc.). We specifically partner with the International Rescue Committee to bring all new refugee children in to get clothing when they arrive here in the country. However, we are available to any child in need.
