Tukwila Clothing Bank

Who We Are

We serve people by referral on an as-needed basis.  Referrals can be given by any adult in the community who sees a child in need.  We are open for these people to come shop on the the 2nd Saturday of every month from 9:00 a.m. - noon.  In addition, if there is a critical need between those Saturdays, we will set up individual times with families who have been referred.

The clothing bank started as an attempt by teachers to help one large family who was struggling to have enough clothes for their six children. As we gathered clothes for that family, we got the idea that this might be helpful to other families as well. From that, CARE Nights were born. This was where a school would do a clothing drive and then put the clothes out one evening for families to come take. We kept the extra clothes in plastic tubs so we could access them if a need came up that was not at the time of a CARE Night. Then, in 2009, a local church, Fellowship Bible Church, offered us a space to use as an actual 'shop', where we could have clothes out all the time instead of in plastic tubs, and people could easily come find what they needed.  Also in 2009, we began partnering with Kids Without Borders, a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting needs of children. The clothing bank has operated in it's current location since 2010.
Volunteers are always welcome on the 2nd Saturday of each month!  We can always use help sorting donations, stocking shelves, and straightening up the clothing bank.
We accept donations of all children's clothing, from baby to teen sizes.  Items of particular need are as follows:
  • Small boys pants (sizes 5-10) It's hard to get donations of these since the knees often get worn out before they can be donated!
  • Shoes, especially tennis shoes
